Story Test / AIMS Testing

Our story this week is called So You Want to Be an Inventor: eBook.  Today we took our story test over comprehension and vocabulary.  We also read The Klutz Book of Ridiculous Inventions -- it was a silly book filled with some great kid-inspired inventions.  After all, who doesn't need soundproof underpants?

I have begun AIMS testing for fluency for the Winter Benchmark.  It will take a while to get through the entire class before reports are sent home, but we are in the process of completing this test.  Students orally read three probes to me.  Each story "probe" (selection) is a timed one-minute selection.  The goal is to make good progress in fluency (reading rate).

This week we will read about inventions and the Steps in a Process of creating an invention.   Here are some activities you can have your child do at home to practice Steps in a Process:

We are also focusing on Facts and Opinions.
