Weekend!

Today we took our Homophone Spelling test. We also went on our morning field trip to see the Liberty band/orchestra perform.

PARCC Tests Continue

We are continuing PARCC testing all week.  This week we are finishing our Language Arts tests.

PARCC TESTING

We are continuing PARCC testing all next week.  Students have been working on math tests and have seemed to do well.  We will start Language Arts testing next week.

PARCC Testing Starts THURSDAY

Today Mrs. Edgett, our school nurse, spoke to the students about Juvenile Diabetes.  We are doing a fundraiser, Walk for a Cause, on May 18.  Students were given envelopes today to use if they choose to participate in this community service project.  

Students need headphones for PARCC testing.

We are currently reading the short, funny novel Esio Trot, by Roald Dahl.

We also started reading Roald Dahl's funny book Esio Trot.  We will be using this book as our short novel study during the week(s) of PARCC testing.  There will NOT be a Tuesday night homework assignment this week.

Students should be sure that they have headphones for PARCC testing.

PARCC Tests Start THURSDAY


Today we took our spelling test over silent letter words.  We will NOT have a spelling test this upcoming Friday (April 15) due to PARCC testing, but the words have been provided to help prepare for our next test, the week of April 22.  PARCC testing begins on THURSDAY.  Students do NEED HEADPHONES for the PARCC test, as it is taken on the computer. Tests will be taken with their Block 2 (homeroom).  Tests will continue in to the week of April 18th.  Students are prepared and will do well if they work hard and used their time wisely.

Spelling Test Tomorrow

We are practicing for our Spelling Unit 26  test on Friday.  These words are silent letter spellings. We completed workbook page 105-106.

Friday we will have our "Growing Up" video and presentation.  

We are working on our "New Destination" oral presentation and poster that will describe a favorite location in New Lenox.  The students are working very hard on this, and they are enjoying it greatly!  They will be "presenting" their news show tomorrow.  

Fourth grade PARCC tests begin on THURSDAY.  Students are prepared and will do well, as long as they put forth a good effort.

New Destinations New Lenox



Today we re-read "Welcome to Chinatown and took the story test.  Here's the link to the ebook.  This story is the last story in Theme 5.  We are also working on creating our own "New Destination" reports about special places in New Lenox.  We are creating posters and writing a plan for our oral presentations.  The students are enjoying this activity.  

In Block 1 we finished reading Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes.  The class really enjoyed this true story.  It is quite a tearjerker.  

Block 2 is finishing Hank Zipper and the Zippity Zinger.

Welcome to Chinatown


Today we read "Welcome to Chinatown."  Rereading this Readers Theatre story will be tonight's homework assignment.  We practiced our vocabulary words and completed our Practice Workbook page 113 to review these words.  Our story comprehension test and vocabulary test will be tomorrow.  Here's the link to the ebook.  This story is the last story in Theme 5.

Back to School, Back to the Routine!

Today we went over our Spelling Unit 26 words for our test on Friday.  These words are silent letter spellings.  We completed workbook page 103-104 and practiced visualizing the silent letters to help us spell them properly.  Spelling Lists

 We also worked on Irregular Verbs and completed Grammar workbook pages 91-92.
