Our reading story today is called "Just Like Me," and we read about different illustrators and authors who created self portraits. This story should be reread for homework and is found on pages 444-455 in the Storytown Book. We also learned the vocabulary words for this story and completed Practice workbook page 97. We will have story comprehension and vocabulary test tomorrow.

This weeks Spelling Unit 19 test may be challenging for some students, as the key will be to listen closely to the sentences provided on the day of the test. The test is on Friday.

We also worked very hard to learn about the eleven states and capitals of the Northeast. As we read about each region in social studies, we will be taking a test to identify each state. A word bank will be provided to help spell the name of each state. The state capitals will be a matching test. The Northeast has 11 eleven states (and 11 capitals) that students will need to learn.
We will plan to have a test over these 11 states and capitals on THURSDAY, which is February 12th. Practice sheets are available for the students to take home (blank Northeast maps) and extra study guides.

Here's a link to some fun States and Capitals songs. Many students learn very quickly by listening to music. Try this link at home to find a song that your child enjoys!
