We worked on Spelling page 81-82 for Review Unit 20.  Our test is on Thursday due to Teachers' Institute on Friday.

Today we will read The Case of the Too Hot Apple Cider. It is the last story in Theme 5 of Storytown.  Students should please reread it tonight for homework.  We also completed the Vocabulary page in Practice workbook page 113.

The Matt Wilhelm Pro Bike Show & Super Bowl Facts Day!

We took our Unit 19 Spelling Test, and the students were anxious for their grades, so I was able to get them graded.  Scores were fantastic!  Thank you for studying at home.

Legends

We have been working hard to practice spelling words for tomorrow's test.  It's a challenging word list, but I feel as though we have done lots of practice and the class should do very well on the test!  Students completed Spelling practice pages 77-78 today, and we also played Spelling City games as a review.

This week we also continued to discuss different types of narrative stories, including legends.  We've been reading different legends together in class, and students have the independent assignment of reading one story from each narrative genre by Friday.  The genres include folk tale, fable, fairy tale, pourqoui tale, tall tale, and legend.  Students also tried out their talents at writing a legend.

Block Two is completing our Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing as a novel study this week.  

Tomorrow morning we have a very special "Character Counts" assembly that the kids will LOVE!

Juan Verdades

Today we took the test over Juan Verdades, The Man Who Couldn't Tell a Lie, in our Storytown book pages 498-514 and we worked on writing our own legends and folk tales.
